Addis Red Sea
Ever had Ethiopian cuisine? me either, until yesterday. I left with an overly full stomach and a sense of serenity knowing that I now have another reason to think I’m not a racist.
Check out Addis Red Sea, it’s located at 544 Tremont St (Boston MA) and surprisingly it’s only a ~15 minute walk from my apartment, a leisurely walk since there was no way I was going to walk faster in this bowels-of-Hell humidity (…actually, I always though Hell would be more of a dry heat, thats a blog for another day though).
Try the fish. A couple of the veggie dishes reminded me of some Pakistani veggie dishes. The “bread” rules, if you can call it bread, which I think you can since thats what the waitress called it. Stick with the combination dishes if it’s your first time, since you try some of many of the dishes, instead of getting a lot of one specific dish.
One bad thing about the place though, the seats had poor back support, or maybe they didn’t and my back only hurt because I had to bend over to get to the food from the “table” (again, if you can call it that).
The portions we received seemed small initially, but I think that was just an eye-trick because everybody eats off this HUGE plate on the “table”. I’m ashamed to say that I couldn’t finish all of the food, I tried though, I honestly did.
You eat with your hands, which doesn’t bother me. Everybody got a hot towel before the meal as well, to sanitize your hands with. After your meal though, you receive those crap moist towelettes in the condom-wrappers with your check. I guess once you pay they’re not going to waste another hot towel on you.
My first blog review, looking back, it flows horribly. If you have any questions go ahead and ask.
