Curiosa Festival
Going to Randall’s Island today for the Curiosa Festival
- The Cure
- Muse
- Interpol
- Mogwai
- + couple other bands I haven’t heard of or listen to, but want to check out nonetheless
I must admit that I’m quite excited to see Muse. I am a devoted fan of theirs indeed. Last year I almost got a ticket to Paris to go see them, thinking they’d never come to the US (they’re a UK band), but couldn’t find the time/money to make it happen. Origin of Symmetry is one of the greatest spine-shivering, emotion-enducing albums I have listened to.
Interpol was a surprise to me as a band. I downloaded* their album to check it out to see if I would like it, and I did like it, but the weird part was that I loved it even more everytime I listened to it. I’m not talking like, talking love baby.
Mogwai. This band is a slight mystery. The 2 albums of their I’ve listened to, Young Team & Happy Songs For Happy People are quite good, they flow together quite well and they’re a definite listen-to-while-studying music , but I don’t know how a instrumental-only band will perform live. Guess we’ll find out.
And now for The Cure. I’ve always respected them, but never listened to them much, they’re were definitely before “my time”, but that isn’t an excuse, since I regret being born too late to see The Beatles. The first time I started actually persuing their music to give it a listen to was when A Perfect Circle did a hybrid of Ozzy’s Diary of a Madman and Cure’s Lovesong, called Diary of a Madman (it’s a live download only song. APC will never release it officially since it’s isn’t their’s originally). Lovesong became one of my favorite songs after I checked it out, and I wanted more Cure… (replace Cure with Ozzy for same story with Diary of a Madman. Man I love Ozzy’s music. I should really check out Black Sabbath too, I’m just so lazy these days).
Can’t wait to see some new bands too, chances are that I’ll like em, considering how much I love the other bands at the festival.

*I always download an album before buying it (unless it’s of a band I worship), and I always buy an album if I like it. I guess I’m not one of those guys that can go into a store, listen to the album for a few minutes and make a decision as to whether it’s buy-worthy or not.
