I’m just going to charge it. Going to buy an iPod Mini soon. I’ve been using my iRiver mp3 player while running, it’s absolutely great. No moving parts, good battery life, lots of features, FM radio, OGG support, regular software/firmware updates, etc etc. 2 things I’m not a fan of though, it’s only 256MB and file transfer is slooooow.
I could buy a 1GB iRiver flash mp3 player, thats a lot more space and it’s USB 2.0 so file transfer should be tons faster, but for the same price I could get an iPod Mini. Thats 4GB vs 1GB. I would prefer a flash player, no moving parts is a plus when running around with the thing (less damage to the insides), but I’m sure the Mini will be able to make do. I mean, Apple has an arm band made specifically for the iPod Mini, they want you to run with the thing.
It’s too bad that iRiver doesn’t make a mini-type hard drive player, they have a regular hard drive player to compete with the iPod, no mini. The regular iPod is bigger and heavier, so no running with it. No armband from Apple for it either.
Going to hold onto the 256MB iRiver though, it’s got voice recording capabilities built-in which I think I may need in the future, unless I lazy out, I’m planning on taking a Learn to Speak Japanese type of course in a few months. Voice recording should help then. The voice recorder accessory for the iPod ($35 extra) doesn’t work with the Mini, what a rip.
