Solder Of Fortune

So yesterday I finally got around to soldering some speaker wires for my Klipsch ProMedia 4.1 for my PC. No big deal right? well this was the first time I ever soldered anything. Turned out to be pretty easy and the fumes can get quite nice after a while.

The speaker wires that came with the system were not long enough for my rear satellites and they were of horrible quality too (which is quite peculiar since the system is quite amazing). So went to Radio Shack, got some 16-gauge wire, some soldering kit, some mono-plugs, and then used some wire cutters and other small accessories I already had. A few hours later (the first speaker wire took the most time, I wanted to do everything perfect and slowly while learning) it was all gold in my ears.

I got speaker stands for this apartment so that it would be less hassle for me. I had wall-mounts for these speaker in my last apartment, they were too high and the wire on the wall didn’t look that great either. So with ear level satellites and amazing speaker wire these are definitely new sounding speakers. They sound like I’m listening to them without the grills on, honest, much better. Don’t know if it’s the speaker placement or the new wires, whatever.

First song after the makeover? Radiohead, The Bends, Track #12….Street Spirit (Fade Out). The world stood still while I was revolving around the Sun.
