Didn’t Rain, But It Poured

Last night, 11PM…

Got my huge 32oz cup of water (I like to stay hydrated) from the Brita, walked over to my study being careful not spill all this water. Put it gently on my desk, being careful that it doesn’t land lopsided so that it doesn’t spill…my finger ever so slightly nudges the side as I am removing my hand.

Water poured onto my keyboard, my mouse was about half high in water, my papers are unreadable due to water-soluable ink (is there any other kind?), my gamepad trying to hold on for dear life in this flood, my right pant leg feels wet and cold, and my carpet has the odd sound of bathroom-rug after a shower…10 showers.

Took about 20 minutes to get most of the water out and trash the papers which I hope I didn’t need. I sat down, after changing pants, I started to use my computer (which I hoped was still well). Hmm, thats strange, my optical mouse isn’t so optical anymore, where the hell are those cool red laser lights and movement on screen? Damn flood.

Opened up the mouse, being the genius I am, parts flew everywhere. About 30 minutes later I got everything dry and put back together (the second time, I missed an essential part the first time, it was lying hidden on the carpet). Worked great and was now cleaner, I was oh so relieved.

Windows started up, everything is working normally, breath of relief.

Hmm, thats strange, my control key doesn’t work, no biggie, probably a little wet. Hmm, thats weird, now my control key opens up My Computer for some reason. OK, too weird, gotta dry this thing out too. Opened it up, dried it (keeping a sharp eye as to where everything goes this time; found a lot of hair and a finger nail in there), put it all back together. Yay, everything works.

Hmm, thats weird, my ‘z’, ‘x’, and ‘b’ keys don’t work. Must’ve put it back together incorrectly or it’s still a little damp. After trying to fix it for 30 more minutes, I went online to order a new keyboard (any idea how annoying it is to cut/paste the letter ‘b’ when typing, it’s up there on the list, trust me). Decided that it would be faster if I just went to a store tomorrow (cause it’s after midnight now and I’ve got work tomorrow and not like any electronics store with the keyboard I want is going to be open anyway!) and bought the keyboard I want, even if it is going to cost twice as much and has half the selection, but no way I was going to live without an essential letter for at least 3 days (and 2 average-essential letters).

The End (I typed this post from work, I Love You ‘b’ key).
