I’m Moving Again!
Currently this blog is hosted by 1&1. I’ve got a 3-year account with them, so far it’s going pretty well, no major problems. I wish they had WebDAV support in my account and access to more than 1 MySQL database. Also, my usernames have weirdo number/letter combinations that are required, which isn’t so frustrating anymore since I have it memorized now.
Just today I signed up with DreamHost. Why? I’ve heard they do a good job of hosting, they provide a LOT more features/bandwidth/space, they were hella-cheap, $9.24 for a 1-year contract. Yes people, $9.24 for 1 year (gotta use a super secret coupon code to get this price).
What advantages will I have over my current host?
- 500MB -> 800MB Webspace
- 5GB/Month Bandwidth -> 120GB/Month
- 1 MySQL Database -> Unlimited
- 1 Free Domain Registration or 1-year extension to current domain*
- WebDAV, RealAudio/Video Streaming, Jabber Serving, QuickTime Streaming, CVS
*The domain registration is worth the $10 alone.
Hopefully this new server won’t have too many hiccups and everything will work out great, otherwise I’ll just move back to my 1&1 server, which I’ll probably end up using as 500MB webspace for whatever I want.

The “Super Secret Coupon Code” is….777. It’s their 7 year anniversary coupon code.
It only works with their ‘Crazy Domain Insane!’ 1 or 2-year package.
