Older & More Vegan Blog
I’ve made some more changes to my blog now (other than the server move a little while back). My blog is now running WordPress 1.2.2, MUCH MUCH better since the version has gone up by 0.0.1…I don’t notice anything new. Whatever.
I have also made a noticeable change to the blog for me and my viewers. No more comment moderation, so now your comments should show up pretty much instantaneously. This is great for me, getting several emails a day asking for comment approval was becoming a pain since almost all of them were comment spam from poker, dating sites, medicine, etc.
Why am I not worried about comment spam anymore? Because of my awesome new blog plugin, Spam Stopgap Extreme. This baby blocks any bot trying to post to my blog. No blacklists, no moderation, no "spam points", no nothing. One caveat though, Javascript is now required to post comments in my blog, I’m sorry to all the text-only browsers out there, but stick with Firefox people, and to a lesser extent, Internet Explorer. The plugin uses md5 hashing to prove that your browser exists and then allows posting. You won’t even know that it’s working.
As always, if you notice anything weird with this site because of the 1.2.1 -> 1.2.2 upgrade or new the spam-blocking comment plugin, shoot me an email or post a comment (unless the comment system is busted).

Great to hear you’re using the plugin. If it breaks on you…drop me an email and I’ll do my best to fix it!

Spam Stopgap Extreme is one of the best usefull plugins to stop spam attacks. In one of my latest blogs at once i had a problem with 10 or more stupid comments every day in my articles. Now I have stopped the attacks. Thanks for it.
