In Good Company In D.C.

So last night I went out with a couple friends of mine, they were a married couple (seems like all my friends are married now or are in a serious relationship and then I really feel like I’m just tagging along when hanging out, but whatever, they invited me!).

Movie + Dinner + hang out at somebody’s place. The usual thing friends do.

Movie:
In Good Company
Scarlett Johansson…she is only second to Natalie Portman (I prefer brunettes)…hmm, I forgot about Janeane Garofalo, I’ve had a crush on her since high school.

Anyway, the movie. It was a comedy, wasn’t bad, I was hoping for more of a drama thing with the daughter + boss relationship and Dennis Quaid being the employee + father, but it was a comedy. It has some funny moments, but overall a pretty run-of-the-mill average funny story. Topher Grace was a good fit I thought, he can play the young neurotic types pretty well, I don’t see him in any other role, but actors can be surprising sometimes (e.g. Jim Carrey). The ending was very well done, something different and slightly original, kudos to the writer Paul Weitz, but then again, he did write Nutty Professor II: The Klumps.

Dinner:
We went to DC Coast for dinner. The food was well prepared, I had the Lobster Bisque, Grilled Atlantic Salmon, and Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee. The service was mediocre (very busy night though) I must say and I freaking dropped a piece of grilled salmon on this awesome blue shirt I was wearing. Now gotta drop by the dry cleaning place, I hate being non-lazy sometimes. The bisque was different, had some garlic in there for originality, but it was a little thin. Lobster pieces were barely there and it seemed a little runny compared to other bisques I’ve had. The salmon tasted as expected, but the large fried prawn next to it was the highlight of that dish. Too bad it was only one bite cause I didn’t feel like picking it up and tearing it apart with my hands. The creme brulee? Well this was the first time I’ve had creme brulee and I think I know how Amelie feels about cracking the tops of the creme brulees, they’re actually fun, in a solitary enjoyment kind of way. It was pudding underneath with thin crackly toffee layer on top, not too sweet I thought, nice epilogue to a dinner.

After:
And then we hung out at Kevin and Jessica’s place, their two small (terrier?) dogs wouldn’t stop climbing all over me. I’m glad they didn’t smell bad like some other pets I’ve encountered before.

You are hanging with the wrong married people.. Married people are cool too…

Yeah, until they pop out a kid. Then coolness factor goes down so low dude…no mid-life crisis racecar can help.
