Best [Shave] A Man Can Get
I wonder why Gillette leaves out the “shave” part in their motto, because I certainly know that their line of razors isn’t the “best” thing a man can get. I’m talking about women and food, I gotta marry a cook…
So a little back story first. When I lived in Boston (yes, this is another slight Boston flashback story, gimme a break, my memories can’t go back far enough and Boston was the last 2 years of my life), we were at one of my friends place (Hi PL and GN!) and there was a package that GN received earlier that day and was lying unopened next to the couch. Of course about midway through the night all of us asked him, “What did you get from Canada?” (we saw the custom’s sticker on the package). GN replied that he honestly didn’t know and continued to open the package right then.
Out popped some Gillette razor blades that he had bought from eBay. Now this struck a lot of us as a little strange, because not only did he buy shaving razor blades online, he bought them from eBay, got them shipped from Canada, AND there is a Gillette factory located in Boston itself. His defense? They’re still cheaper on eBay. I did some checking, he was right.
For those of you who don’t know, Gillette Mach3 Turbo blades (albeit an excellent razor) are VERY expensive.
Some time ago I saw a commercial for the new Gillette M3 Power razor, you know, the one with the battery in it that uses “Micro-Power” for a closer shave? Well, I thought it was bull personally, but I needed to buy razor blades for my Mach3 Turbo, so figured I might as well try out the M3 Power from eBay, since it was very cheap.
I used it for the first time this morning. My shave doesn’t seem closer this morning (since my previous Mach3 Turbo did a great job I guess), BUT the shave did seem easier and less harsh on my skin. I could barely feel the razor shaving the hair on my face. I didn’t feel any “Micro-Power”, just felt like the razor was vibrating, but whatever, it works.
