The Good, The Bad, And The…Dammit
So I woke up listening to NPR as usual. Nothing extraordinary about it, it mentioned some story about George W. trying to get liked by Europeans, some snow coming down, and something else political I could care less about.
All I remember is going, “Snow huh? Ugh, I gotta wear an extra layer today”. I looked out the window, snow wasn’t sticking to the ground and it had pretty much stopped. Did my usual Yahoo! Weather morning check to see what the temperature would be like that day, it mentioned ‘cold’ and ’snow’, figured.
Got in the car, cursed because I had just gotten a car wash last Thursday and the car was still a bit shiny. Cursed again when I remembered that my antenna was now currently in my back seat because of the car wash. One more morning curse thinking I had to go to pick up another antenna and get it installed.
Got to work, wondered why there were so many open parking spots. Talked to my workaholic friend at work and the first thing he said was, “What are you doing in today?”. After a little banter I had one last curse about not checking my email this morning.
So I’m going to go grab some IHOP with a couple workaholic people here then go straight home and then probably go to the gym and then slack off the rest of the day.
The Bright:
Don’t have to make tomorrow’s lunch
No work today
Slack off day!
The Dark:
I still have to work tomorrow
Can’t believe I didn’t check my email this morning, I feel like such a lowly geek

Dude, stop cursing!
1. That’s so fortunate to find out that you don’t have to work. Man, we’ve never had a snow day. Not in the past 7 years!
2. My last two car washes, it rained or snowed the very next day and they weren’t in the weather report until the morning.
3. You get to go to IHOP with people at work. I feel lucky if I get to walk to the cafeteria with the people I work with. Of course, I went out and saw a movie with people from work, but I don’t work with them. (I really liked Sideways)
4. I don’t check my email when I wake up anymore either. I used to do that everyday the past 3 years. Probably due to the fact that I don’t get as much mail as I used to anyway. So that makes me more of a lowly geek than you. Geeks always get mail.
Workalochic friend.. So are you a slacker? Is there a middle ground?
Don’t you at least have a weather line or something? If there’s the potential for bad weather, it’s the first thing I check when I get up.
I am the middle ground! The procrastinator. Works like a mother, only right before the deadline.
Yes, there is a weather line, but work didn’t close at bad weather before and the snow today was nowhere near that, so figured it would be open. Stupid bad weather line.
How much snow did you get? I heard only a couple inches, and you get a snowday? Dang! I want a snow day. But for anything less than a foot? C’mon, that’s just weak.
No kidding, thats what I said, a snow day for this? But the roads did get a little icy, so thats probably why stuff was closed today. School Buses + Icy Roads = Scared Parents and School Board
