It’s A New Dawn, It’s A New Day, It’s A New Life…
Feeling Good by Muse
Why the change you say? Well, maybe you’ve noticed something on my site just now?…WordPress 1.5 is now working quite well.
It’s a little buggy I think and not for the novice to transfer over from 1.2.x -> 1.5. Most especially if you’re using a different template, like I am. What bugs you say? Well, the 2 most obvious ones being:
- Comments screen not appearing for posts, so no comments could be added or read.
- Blog title appearing distorted (very huge and covering up WordPress logo) in the admin control panel
I didn’t really come across any other bugs and so far I like the new version, but I don’t really notice anything hugely different. It has better spam protection definitely, I’ve turned off trackback/pingback moderation and WP-HashCash for now, we’ll see how it goes.
How did I fix those 2 bugs up there? Well, for the first one I just replaced 2 comment files in my themes (what used to be templates) directory with the ones from default, that fixed it. Apparently the 1.2 -> 1.5 conversion guide has some mistakes or the changes are too drastic from 1.2 itself. The second bug automatically fixed itself when I deactivated all old plugins, removed them (cleaned the directory), then uploaded them again (some new versions too). Maybe I did something else while doing that which fixed it or maybe the removal process itself fixed something, but either way, it’s perfect now.
