A-Muse-d

University of Maryland. Cole Field House. 2005. April 16th. 9:20PM.

Thats when Muse walked onto the stage and I creamed my pants.

Yes, they rocked, ultimately, rock doesn’t last more than an hour fifteen minutes. At least it’s better than the last time I saw them for 30 minutes.

They played amazing songs and left out amazing songs. You can’t really expect bands to play a lot of their older stuff, which makes sense, but that totally pisses me off. When I saw Weezer, they didn’t play anything from their 2nd album at all (albeit, Rivers hates that album, but still…). So Muse did not play anything from their first album, which is a shame, it has some emotion grasping moments.

Bellamy, that talented bastard, knew exactly what he was doing on stage. Whether it was his guitar solos, long vocal stretches, or his explosions on the piano, he played the audience as if we were chewing gum at the end of our life. I begged for more.

Some of the above-average songs in the album raise out of the grave when performed live. Example, Ruled By Secrecy, feeling the heart beats of a large audience beat in unison leaves your mouth dry and your eyes glistening.

I was surprised to hear two new songs that I’ve never heard before, you know what that means…new album on the horizon! If it was only one new song, I would’ve chalked it up to an upcoming b-side, maybe, but two? No way.

If you have never listened to anything by Muse, you might as well start off with the same song that got me hooked on them. It was b-side I listened to that I didn’t have the name for, took a while to find out which band it was. The name of the song? Con-science. Then go onto Origin Of Symmetry, which I believe is their best album, one of my personal all time addictions.

Muse rocks. I don’t have Con-science, TB. Is it in Hullabaloo or is it not in any album?

It isn’t on any of their main albums but a b-side on one of their singles, Muscle Museum CD2. It was actually released before Origin of Symmetry came out.
