M.I.A. – Arular
Lately I’ve been listening to M.I.A.‘s album Arular a lot. The first time I listened to it, the first four or so songs, I honestly turned it off and figured I wouldn’t listen to it again ever, not really my thing. Well I noticed myself humming the beats continuously for the next couple hours, after only listening to the songs once. That alone required a second listen.
Well it was a good decision. The music may not appeal to all, but Maya’s voice definitely will, quite sexy and free-willed. The music is a mix between Hip Hop + Dance + slight Techno, so you can see why I had the initial response that I did, those genres rarely appeal to me. Arular only lasts around 38 minutes, which is a shame, but it’s a pretty intense period of time and probably wouldn’t have had the same passion if it lasted longer.
Everybody at the very least should check out the first track, Banana Skit, you can finally learn how to pronounce the word Banana.
