Mathematical Pluses And Minuses

I pretty much spent most of today working with (or trying to) a Principle Components Analysis algorithm, trying to reduce the dimensionality of some Bioinformatics texts. It just sounds sexier than it actually is, trust me.

I mean, I love math, I honestly do, but that doesn’t matter, because I have a real tough time re-learning the many many things that I have forgotten over the years. Doing mathematical methods these days is like trying to carry a brick to the top of a pyramid while missing numerous random bricks throughout the structure.

I wish Daisy was here, she’s good at math (I’m guessing, she’s got like 50 pocket protectors, she’s gotta be!) plus she’s an awesome cook, which I think is a must have skill for any tutor. Too bad the rest of my friends can’t cook worth shit and suck at math (…Deeds, I’m looking at you….hmm, Matty is a pretty shit cook too I think, but at least he has some math in his blood).

When I grow up (…more), I wanna be a Mathemagician.

sorry to disappoint, but i’ve only got four pocket protectors (one from byte.com, one from ben and jerry’s, and two from restoration hardware). i love math, but i don’t know how good i am at it these days . . .
