TB #71

Two little kids, aged six and eight, decide it’s time to learn how to swear. So, the eight-year-old says to the six-year-old,
“Okay, you say ‘ass’ and I’ll say ‘hell’”.

All excited about their plan, they troop downstairs, where their mother asks them what they’d like for breakfast.

“Aw, hell,” says the eight-year-old, “gimme some Cheerios.” His mother backhands him off the stool, sending him bawling out of the room, and turns to the younger brother.

“What’ll you have?”
“I dunno,” quavers the six-year-old, “but you can bet your ass it ain’t gonna be Cheerios.”

AndrewB…ird

Category: General, MusicTB @ 1:03 pm

Got to see Andrew Bird at the Berklee Performance Center last night. Opening for them was Joan As Police Woman. He put on a good show, but that guy is a workaholic on stage, a bit distracting when you’re trying to get lost in the music. So many instruments to control. He’s a kick-arse whistler though, plus he has the best monkey in the world.

Before the show Daisy, her friend Danielle, and I got some eatings at Bukowski’s Tavern near Hynes. Their sweet potato french fries are worth the trip, go there! Plus they had this really good dipping sauce, I don’t remember anything about it, maybe there was horseradish stuff in there, Daisy knows, but I’d go back just for that.

Got a t-shirt too, but had to jump through a couple of hoops to get it. No biggie, the two girls selling concert items were super cool about it. First I had to decide what shirt to get, was a toss up between the green, the bright yellow, and then off-white. Chose not to get the off-white one cause I don’t think I’m an off-white t-shirt kind of guy (thanks for Danielle for helping out on this one, also, for some reason she things I’m super weak, even though I’m the strongest guy ever). Went for the bright yellow instead cause I like bright stuff (even though the green had a cooler design on the front).

Got up there, bought a medium size bright yellow shirt, brought it back…the thing almost came down way past my waist, even though the width was perfect. Who the heck made this shirt? Went back, talked to the girl, she spent a few minutes with me (even though there was a big crowd, she was super nice about it), looked at the other shirts, they didn’t have a medium sized green one, got the small instead (the large was huge). We then went to our seats…

Decided in two minutes I made another mistake, the small was too small, figured I’d check out the other shirts to see if they’re super long or not. Went back to the nice girl, she smiled and said sorry, but then said hold on, let me see if I can dig up a medium sized green one, cool. Came back…sorry again, but we’ll have them after the show, awesome. She gave me my money back and I came back after the show. Big crowd again, the other girl apologized this time for making me wait, threw me the shirt over a few people, I handed her the cash, and I was good to go.

Nice people at the Berklee.

And oh yeah, I picked up a couple Muse tickets for the Agganis show in August, too bad I missed the beginning presale yesterday like a chump, what an idiot. Got seats somewhere in the 102 area, oh well, they’re not that bad.

It looks like I’ll be staying in Boston a little while longer. Guess I should get a Massachusetts license now.

A Weekend Out Of The City

Category: General, MusicTB @ 7:27 pm

Listening to Bloc Party’s second album again, A Weekend In The City. It’s nowhere near as amazing as their first release or Arcade Fire’s second release, Neon Bible, but it is growing on me though and I find myself listening to it on a somewhat regular basis. I’ll probably go pick it up next time I’m at Newbury Comics. Actually, I think I checked out the price last time I was there and it was more than I’d like to pay for a CD, think I’ll just order it online like usual then.

Also, going down to Virginia this weekend for a friend’s wedding. It’s so warm down there, ugh…

Sat Day

Category: General, Movies & TV, Music, Photos With TBTB @ 1:26 am

Well today was a good Saturday. Busy, yet enjoyable enough to make it a good weekend.

  1. Woke up at 9:50AM, started refreshing the Ticketmaster webpage like crazy, scored some tickets to see Tool at Tweeter in July.
  2. Met with a potential roommate, he came over, checked out the place, he seemed really cool. I don’t think he’s coming back, ah well.
  3. Went over to the B&B Circus with Manz, saw some kick arse 5th grader band do a cover of Green Day’s Boulevard of Broken Dreams. Those kids were really good. Got some awesome mint chocolate chip ice-cream and hung out with Manz, who I hadn’t made fun of face-to-face for a while.
  4. Went to see Hot Fuzz with Lyds and rydw i and then got some Lebanese food with the Chows and rydwi afterward. Correction, after we got some drinks and amazing french fries at Deep Ellum. Hot Fuzz is the most amazing movie ever.

Also, I finally got around to putting up lotsa pics in the photos section, in the 2007 folder, Letters’ visit last weekend, and some from today too.
