Coo-Workers

Category: GeneralTB @ 1:32 pm

My co-workers knew I’ve been fasting, mainly because I haven’t had lunch with them in about a month… plus I bitch about it all the time.  Well today they came up to me before they left for lunch, wished me a happy Eid (even though they were off by a day and didn’t pronounce it correctly), and made plans for some lunch outing tomorrow to celebrate my renewed eating ways (even though they knew I keep the six extra days post-Eid).

How awesome.  I didn’t even know they knew what Eid was, plus they were super cool about it and forced me to pick wherever I wanted to eat (even though I said literally anywhere with food would work).

I really love working here, the people are cool, the work is mind-bogglingly interesting (most of the time above my head), and it’s super short commute too.  Still, wish this place had more loose girls working here, even one would suffice.

Krispy Ice-Cream

Category: GeneralTB @ 12:05 pm

Another key part of the plan is the company’s new Kool Kreme soft serve, which will be featured with a toppings bar. The product is being tested in several stores around the country.

Krispy Kreme hopes to heat up sales with ice cream

Sweet holy crap, who wants to go on a road trip with me and come back a diabetic and/or dead?  Seriously, I am so game for this…

Mog-why?

Category: MusicTB @ 1:47 pm

Hello, this is Ticketmaster Customer Service with an important alert for your upcoming event. Mogwai, scheduled at Wilbur Theatre on Monday, September 22, 2008, at 7:30PM has been cancelled.

Your credit card will automatically be credited the ticket price and convenience charges, and should post to your account within 7 to 10 business days. Please note, the $2.50 per order processing fee and any ticketFast or UPS delivery charges are non-refundable.

This makes it the second time I’ll be missing their show, plus of course Ticketmaster rape charges will not be refunded AND so far there has been no reason given for the cancellation.

I absolutely hate concert cancellations, especially since Nine Inch Nails postponed theirs a couple months ago and I couldn’t attend this past Saturday’s Santogold show either.  This was supposed to be the weekend of four concerts, which has now whittled down to two.  Weak.

Classy Bio

Category: GeneralTB @ 12:28 pm

So this morning was my first class at MIT, no, I’m not back in school, just taking one course.  It’s a biology course, nothing major, BUT the big reason for actually taking it?  It’s co-taught by Eric Lander. He’s an amazing professor, the work is going to suck, but listening to him talk is mesmerizing.  You can tell he absolutely loves teaching biology, learning biology, furthering biology.

His main focus is on genetics, which is perfect, that’s my main focus too.  This is exciting.  If you don’t understand why, well, he’s pretty much a rock star in his field, so hope that puts it into perspective. I see him every now and then where I work, but never really spoken to him, maybe we’ll actually speak this year.  Doubtful though.  Why?  529 students!

Yes, there are 529 students in the class, most are undergrads and I gotta tell you, MIT lecture halls are crap! Seriously, they’re oooold, but at least they have good acoustics.  And it’s a bit weird sitting in the middle of all these young-uns… the smartest young-uns in the entire world actually.  Double crap.

Pretty Annoying

Category: General, Movies & TVTB @ 3:20 am

I’ve been watching a lot of movies lately.  It’s been great, I love flicks, but there’s something that has been consistently annoying the hell outta me… pretty girls.  They annoy the shit outta me.

Take for instance The Forbidden Kingdom, great movie I thought.  Not an authentic martial arts type, but the kind of martial arts movie that you remember watching as a kid that really pumped you up and started your Bruce Lee wanna-be days. Now take that great movie, toss in a hottie (Liu Yifei in this case) and BAM, this movie has a chink in the armor (um, no racist pun intended, seriously).

Now I love pretty girls, especially amazing Asian ones, but whenever Liu Yifei would come on screen, I swear I couldn’t remember my own name, or what year it was, and I highly doubt I was breathing either.

Lisa Ray had the same effect during my viewing of WaterCrap it she’s beautiful!

So.  Effing.  Annoying.

Come to think of it, maybe I just need a girlfriend.

Blood Less

Category: GeneralTB @ 9:51 am

And yet another reason to not do any post-work, weekday, sunset runs… my legs are bitten like crazy!  Stupid blood devouring little organisms (not to be mistaken with reverse-vampire children who only come out during the day).

Yesterday my legs itch like nuts, today they’re past the itching phase and onto the sore/hurting phase.  Is there like a secret home made mythical recipe to cure this?  Like a bath in 2% milk or natural peanut butter lotion or maybe getting an 80 year old lady to bite through your skin under a full moon in a cemetary while holding hands in a freshly dug grave?

My legs hurt, heal me!

Twist & Shout On The Charles River

Category: GeneralTB @ 10:51 pm

I got back from a race a couple hours ago. This one went immensely better than last month’s race.  Last month it was incredibly hot, impossibly humid, plus like an idiot I had around 4 hours of sleep the night before.  Needless to say, worst finishing time ever.

Today’s race, same distance as last time, fared around 3 minutes and 9 seconds better.  Yeah, scary isn’t it?  That’s a big difference.  I’m not saying that I’m in better shape, I’m just saying last time sucked.  This wasn’t even my best time (just thought I’d throw that little tidbit in there to boost my ego).  Too effin’ crowded at these things.  Kid you not, elbow to elbow for the first 2 miles.  Sucked.

I swear, I’m not doing any more of these post-work weekday races, going to stick with the weekend morning ones.  Sure you can’t sleep in, but the run is actually fun and my times are much better.  Plus no crowds.
