Valedicborian
Got back last night from my sister’s high school graduation. Realized when I got home that I hadn’t been home since Thanksgiving. That’s a while. What’s changed since I was gone? Well my sister absconded my nice attic room, I have been relocated into the basement. Not that big of a deal, but.. it was my room! Like it matters, she’s going off to college in a couple months anyway, ha.
Her graduation was good, for the first 10 minutes, after her name was called I was bored outta my mind. I just tried to concentrate on what I was reading. It was tough, families just wouldn’t stop yelling like idiots when their child’s name was called, even though they were told specifically not to. Oh well, people are idiots wherever you go. Also, there were three valedictorians, two of them gave speeches. And just because you’re smart enough to be valedictorian, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re smart enough to write a good speech and speak well in public. (But then again, I’m dumb and can’t write well either, I should probably keep my mouth shut).
Was there two days and two nights… got three slurpess altogether, it was awesome. Much easier to find a 7-11 in Virginia than Massachusetts by the way.
The time I was there, the Internet and TV was down. An hour before I left, the Comcast guy came and fixed it all up (lightning storm a few days ago, house shook with the close-by lightning strike, Internet/TV went down right after). I had to tether my phone to the home PC so that I could get my Internet fix. Thank gawd for my unlimited data plan and Bluetooth modem knowledge.
Got home and now my cable and Internet are down. What the hell? Stupid RCN. The cable guy is coming today, between 2pm-5pm. So I have to leave work early (group lead was totally cool with me taking a half day, even asked me to take a long lunch with the guys, I love my job, but I skipped lunch anyway). If this problem happens again, I’m switching back to Comcast, nuts to saving ~$40/ month by keeping RCN. Unless it was the all the rain up here, then I will forgive, but I’ve got a feeling that lightning isn’t going to strike twice for me.
