I had some time to kill yesterday and was messing around with this site so I decided to add a forum to the blog. It’s most likely going to go unused, but it’s a good place to shoot the shit if anybody gets bored. Plus I got to learn how to setup and use bbpress.

Enjoy… Binary Tuberculosis Forum

Dual Fiit

So on May 19th the Wii Fit will be released in North America. The good news, a fun workout. The bad news, a fun workout. I’m still debating whether I should pick one up or not, so far I’m leaning toward not, just because… well… I really don’t want to work out while playing the Nintendo Wii. Hell with that.

So today I tried to set up a second 27″ widescreen monitor for myself at work, vertically rotated this time. Alas it was too tall and wouldn’t fit nicely on my desk, so we set it up for a coworker close by. He is now running two 27″ widescreen monitors vertically oriented and they look amazing. So much screen real estate, web pages seem to go on forever, it’s a bit weird at first actually, but then you are just in awe.

I did end up setting up a second monitor for myself in a vertical position, it’s only a 19″, but complements my current 27″ widescreen (horizontally positioned) nicely. It helps out more than you think when working, now there is less alt-tabbing and slightly more head-swiveling, which I can live with.

Victorious Regret Recap

So I’ve been pissing all over 2008 lately, but today I heard about Jeff Pulver (the VoIP visionary), resigning from his company. This is pretty big news in the VoIP arena, especially since Jeff is so likable. He didn’t mention why he left, but he did mention this:

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbour.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.
– Mark Twain

This is extremely ironic, just because those are honestly the exact words that come to mind whenever I’m faced with a decision. So 2008, you may be a bitch-demon, but I will still be victorious.

I, like most people I hope, have obviously done some things here and there that I regret doing, but I have absolutely done nothing so far that I regret not doing. I came close though in the last couple weeks, but strangely enough, failure is surprisingly satisfying.

Mirror Mirror On The Blog

I FINALLY got around to uploading my photo backlog of concerts and weird crap. Also spent some time and switched from a self-hosted image host to using Picasa Web Albums. Why? Well I was waiting for Gallery2 to get its act together with EXIF information, ease of setup, geo-tagging, and just plain purdiness, but I just got fed up.

Picasa does wonders, especially since all my photos now have comment sections, unlike before. Want to make fun of something in the photo? Too effin’ bad, go to hell. Want to ask what I was eating in the photo? You’re more than welcome to add to the comment space for that pic.

The highlights of the new additions? Um… none really, just a LOT of concert photos, inane photos are, as always, added into the “year” albums (e.g. 2007 & 2008). My new cell phone also supports geo-tagging via its GPS functionality. So if I go to Alaska, take a few photos, upload them to Picasa, BAM!, the longitude & latitude information in the photo is used to pinpoint exactly where I was when I took the photo. I’m hoping to use this if I ever go on a trip somewhere.

I bought a new cell phone recently, it’s slightly larger than my last one, but it’s about a hundred times more feature packed. So far I’ve set up VoIP on it so I can make phone calls via the data network (thus not use any minutes, even though I literally have ~4000 rollover just sitting there) and even be able to set up multiple incoming phone numbers if needed… from anywhere in the world. Even got Skype on this thing, supposedly the voice portion works the same, still need to try that out.

Messed around with setting my outgoing caller-id via the same data route so that it sends out my landline number, just in case I want somebody to think I’m at home or don’t want them to have my cell number. Sneaky and most likely never going to be used, but I like having the geek ability to do it.

I’ll probably be taking a lot more pictures and videos, just because this thing has a 5 megapixel camera, much better than my last 2 megapixel camera (for which I still need to upload many pics to the photos section when I get unlazy). The video recording is definitely better this time around. Tossing up videos here is simple, but I’m trying to setup Qik so that all three of you can see LIVE video from my cell phone (a 5 second delay, but whatever). Now that would be amazing.

“What’re you up to right now TB?”
“Check out my blog, I’ll show you a live video feed of what I’m up to biotch!”

I almost went the Twitter route (Twitter is a Facebook-status only type website), but decided against it. Why? Well, I only have a couple friends that would actually be geeked-up enough to check Twitter to see what I’m up to (yeah, I know, I need geekier friends, alas I do try), plus Facebook updating is pretty easy and most people I know are already on there, so Twitter just seemed redundant.

One more thing, I want to get lost soon walking around the streets of Boston, I still haven’t tested out the handheld GPS functionality of this puppy, hopefully it won’t make me take right turns into walls and hookers. Well, at least not walls.

Having a job totally sucks up most of your day, what a pain, more than sleep man…more than sleep. Doesn’t seem right to me. I don’t see how people who hate their job do this every day, I guess I’m better off than many.

So some real quick updates…

Last weekend I went out with Thomas and Garfield again, picked up a couple more eyeglass frames and a sexy Baume & Mercier watch. Finally, my watch and eyeglass collection is taking shape again after the huge loss I took a few months ago.

I then hung out with many folks and had some Game Night action with Cranium. I love that game, but some categories I just suck at, well, I suck at all four them slightly, I guess it’s a good balance. Was a great night with some great new friends.

On Sunday we HAD to get some Super 88 action with Bibbidy Bop and bubble tea. It’s definitely in my top five all time things I can eat whenever, forever.

Some buddies picked up a Wii this Tuesday, man, so much fun. We were all non-stop gaming that night. I gotta get one of my own eventually, once I get a kickarse TV.

That’s it for now, check ya later alligator.

I’m Un-American?

Well our President is slower than a glacier in the Sahara and I’ve mentioned that a few times…many times, but does that make me “Un-American”? I would assume so since that’s the only thing that even remotely comes close to me be questioned by HUAC.

Here is an email I received today:

The email looked legit. It only got a spam score of 1.0 (5.0-6.0 is usually the threshold an email has to cross to be considered as SPAM). Plus it passed an SPF check too, which spammers usually don’t pass. And the links didn’t contain any phishing data either. Worst piece of spam ever, it doesn’t even do it’s job correctly, advertising, the above link doesn’t even work.

Come to think of it, thinking the President is an idiot probably makes me more of an American, why? Almost every one out of two Americans thinks that our President is a few sticks short of a Pocky box. From Wikipedia:

A recent poll by Mirror also suggested that 48% of the Americans believe Bush to have the lowest intelligence of all post WWII Presidents.

Bureau of Morality…they should rename it to the Ministry of Love.
